One of the reasons why we decided to give this TV a review was due to its outstanding price point and high quality. You’re not going to find any other 60-inch LED TV on the market that delivers this type of excellent quality at such a low price. Really, this Vizio is worth a lot more than the asking price.
While you may be hesitating on purchasing a TV with the OLED and 4K TVs being released at the end of the year, you may want to consider this one while you’re waiting for all the bugs and fixes to be ironed out in the OLED TVs. It’s going to take a while for cable systems and DVD producers to catch up with the new revolution of TVs that are on their way anyway, and this set will keep you going until you feel it’s time for another upgrade.
With a 120 Hz refresh rate, a slim frame, full HD resolution, two USB ports and four HDMI ports, combined with a response time of 4ms, you really can’t go wrong with this TV. Its picture quality rivals any other model being produced right now including the higher-end models that sell for double the price. People are stepping up to the plate to purchase this TV based on the cost and the VIZIO reputation behind it.

Vizio uses a Razor LED edge lighting system that supports a 1920p x 1080p native resolution. This edge lighting makes colors rich and images detailed in every scene. We were quite happy to see that the black levels were pretty much the deepest ever seen in an LED edge lit TV. This is, in fact, one of the major problems with edge lighting but Vizio has found a way around it that other manufacturers haven’t seemed to discovery yet.

Matte screen
One of the reasons why this TV shows more color and deeper blacks is the matte screen on it. With this type of screening reflections are minimized since the screen itself helps to absorb light. You’ll also find that neutral colors like skin tones will appear more natural and true to life.
Slim design
The slim design on this VIZIO E601i-A3 allows it to fit perfectly into any room of the house. It measures just under 2″ in depth and looks like a high-end TV in all other regards. If you’ve seen other budget-minded TVs out there they often look the part. This is not the case with this TV with its tailored look and narrow bezel. The bezel presents itself in a glossy black and is only 3/4″ wide so that you as the viewer aren’t left with any distractions when you’re watching the TV.
Easy connectivity
You won’t have any problem getting hooked up with this TV since the inputs are neatly placed on both the side and the back. There are 4 HDMI ports, one composite, one component, one RF, one VGA, two USB and one ethernet port. Outputs include an analog audio out and a digital audio out.
Smart TV
This set offers the Smart TV feature so that you can enter a whole new entertainment world of TV shows, movies, videos and much more and access them according to your own schedule. You’ll have access to an assortment of Internet apps and as more are offered the Smart TV will consistently be updated.
Remote control
This remote control is something that we’ve enjoyed in the Vizio models for quite a while now. Instead of trying to hand pick your way through the menu and Internet options you’re offered a keyboard that’s built right into the remote control for your convenience. A full QWERTY keyboard accesses the Internet keys you’ll need for many of the services that you’re using like Netflix.
Pros
This is the best 60-inch TV that you could possibly purchase in this price range. It performs well in every way and once you have it set up you’ll absolutely fall in love with the crisp clear picture and dark blacks. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to set up. This model outperforms other TVs in its price range and many that cost a lot more. The value for the money is incredible with this Vizio model.
Cons
The only con that we can comment on at this time is the fact that it is not 3-D enabled. If you’re not looking for this 3-D feature, however, you really won’t consider it as a con at all.
The bottom line
This is not a TV that you should be passing by if you’re in the market for a larger TV that will provide quality combined with a reasonable price. This VIZIO E601i-A3 is a “must have” television set especially if you are anticipating the new arrival of the OLED and 4K TV sets and don’t want to invest too much in an HDTV right now. Simply put, we recommend this TV more than any one that we’ve reviewed lately.
