This is a high-definition monitor

When you’re looking for picture-perfect quality on the screen this is about as close as you’re going to get. This Asus model offers 4x the pixel resolution that you’d find with regular HD by offering an incredible 2560 by 1440 HD picture that intensifies the image quality in an incredible way. You simply won’t believe what your videos, games and Internet sites will look like! There’s an amazing difference in the quality of images and everything looks so much more detailed.

For work or for play

This monitor is built for people that want a near-perfect picture to appear on the screen every time they turn on the monitor. Whether you’re looking for a gaming screen or monitor that you can use for fine graphic work, you’ll be more than pleased with the quality picture. In fact, once you’ve had a chance to experience this type of resolution you’ll probably never want to return back to a standard 1080p resolution again.

PLS Panel

Sit back and enjoy the ultra-wide viewing angle of 178° with this PLS panel. The coating on the screen is the same one used by ViewSonic and Samsung on some of their monitor models and is a matte finish. There is very little glare coming from the screen since it’s not covered with a glossy coat that tends to cast reflections onto the screen in bright lighting conditions.

Pure color definition

The PLS panel can produce 16.7 million different colors. Colors are bright and vivid but due to the screen coating they don’t appear overwhelming. Whites appear as paper white and blacks are as dark as ink. You’ll simply love the dramatic appearance on the screen and will enjoy getting to know your monitor better as you start playing around with the controls.

Ergonomically designed

If you’re going to be using a monitor for any type of extended time period you’ll want one that offers the most comfort possible. This monitor features swivel, full tilt, height and pivot adjustments so that you can find the perfect viewing angle easily.

The tilt range on this Asus monitor can range from -5° all the way up to +20°. When you’re turning the monitor to adjust it the operation is smooth and easy. There is a 120 mm adjustment available for the height and there is also a rotation function to turn the monitor a full 90°. With the swivel mechanism you’ll see that it’s built right into the base so that when you move the monitor screen from one side to the other the base moves with the screen itself. It’s done in a quick and easy movement and the range provided for the swivel is very good and all you’ll need.

Asus PB278Q review

Looks like a superstar

Really – this monitor is a beauty. It has a bezel of dark gray that looks somewhat understated and dignified. This bezel is only 21 mm thick along the sides and the top of the screen. At the bottom it’s slightly thicker with the Asus logo that we’ve all come to recognize throughout the years. The monitor can stand on its black plastic base that’s rectangular in shape or you may choose to hang up the screen as well.

Extensive Connectivity

At the bottom of this Asus PB278Q you’ll find DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. Unfortunately the one thing that is missing is a USB port, which may or may not influence your buying decision.

What others are saying

Great reviews are coming in for this monitor, as was expected. It’s hard to find an Asus model that doesn’t live up to the company’s reputation in the monitor industry. We were not surprised to find this to be an excellent product that others were appreciating and enjoying.

One consumer left an extensive review about this Asus PB278Q and pointed out a few interesting things in the process. He said that you could experience less eye strain with this monitor than with others that have a glossy panel due to the lack of distracting reflections on the screen. If you’re planning on using this monitor for extended periods of time this is something you should definitely be taking into consideration.

Another consumer noted that backlight bleeding is minimal on the unit and that the viewing angles are incredible. Even at extreme angles he was not able to see any signs of colors shifting at all. This is an important feature to look for if you’re a gamer and plan on having head-to-head competitions with an opponent. Since both of you won’t be able to sit directly in front of the monitor you’ll want to have one that shows near picture-perfect images even at extreme angles.

The bottom line

This is a multipurpose monitor that you are bound to fall in love with from the word “go”. It’s perfect for editing videos, viewing photos on a large screen, watching Blu-Ray movies or any other HD content that’s 1080p or above. Whether you need a monitor for work or play you’ll find that this Asus PB278Q provides an out-of-the-box experience that doesn’t disappoint. Based on the high opinion of consumers that have gone ahead and purchased this product we are highly recommending it.
